Our Story
Originally founded in October 2020 as Cat Friends of Playa Blanca, our group began as a way for cat lovers in Playa Blanca and across Lanzarote to connect, share photos and videos of their favorite felines, and support the local cat community. Thanks to the dedication of our volunteers and supporters, we’ve grown into an officially registered charity - now known as Lanzarote Cat Protection.

Our Mission
We are committed to improving the lives of stray and community cats in Playa Blanca and surrounding areas. Recognizing the financial challenges faced by many residents, we also provide support to those who care for these cats but struggle due to the island’s economic situation.

How We Help

• Daily Care: Ensuring cats have access to food, clean water, and safe shelter.
• Medical Support: Offering routine and emergency veterinary care, including treatment for illness or injury.
• Recovery & Rehabilitation: Providing temporary housing and medical attention for cats healing from surgery or sickness.
• Population Control: Running Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) programs to reduce the number of homeless kittens.
• Rescue & Adoption: Placing rescued cats and kittens in loving foster homes and facilitating responsible adoptions.
• Community Engagement: Educating locals, tourists, and authorities on responsible cat care and the importance of animal welfare.
• Fundraising: Organizing events and initiatives to sustain our vital work.
